The palace is truly impressive and I suggest taking the full tour as it is worth every cent. There is an audio guide available that you can start as soon as you enter the rooms. If you visit in winter, the Christmas market is absolutely wonderful! Be sure to buy tickets in advance as entrance is limited to a certain number of people during time slots.

Honestly, we were quite disappointed. The State Apartment tour only includes 3 rooms, which are similar to those found in any other European palace, and it’s definitely not worth spending over 20 euros on them – it’s better to enjoy a nice Viennese schnitzel instead. There are no beautiful gardens, just a decent view from the Gloriette, and that's about it. The zoo is nice, but far from impressive compared to the one in Prague. Personally, I find the ticket prices unjustifiably high, and it feels like a tourist trap.

The palace and its grounds are stunningly beautiful and the size is awe-inspiring. We were fortunate to visit the Schönbrunn orangery for an evening of classical music which was fantastic. There’s also a nearby train station that makes getting there very easy and straightforward.

Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna is undeniably a breathtaking masterpiece—a symbol of grandeur that showcases immense wealth. Its beautiful architecture, lavish interiors, and expansive royal gardens are truly remarkable. From the stunning Hall of Mirrors to the manicured gardens, the scale and attention to detail are astonishing. However, it’s hard to overlook that much of this wealth was obtained through centuries of imperial exploits across Europe. Schönbrunn serves as a testament to how money—no matter its source—can buy power, beauty, and influence. Whether you visit for the history, the decadence, or simply to stroll through the gardens, it’s a place that inspires awe while prompting reflection on its origins. A must-visit, but with food for thought!

It is the most gorgeous palace with stunning rooms and an abundance of history. As we visited in winter, we missed the beautiful grounds and garden, but I can imagine how stunning it would be in any other season. We ended up going all the way to the Gloriette for some lunch and drinks… absolutely wonderful!
