Definitely worth visiting, the architecture and atmosphere is incredible. I would recommend visiting in the morning or evening to avoid the crowds and heat if it's spring or summer. It's a spacious area, and places like this can be hard to find in the city. There's enough room for the huge number of tourists, so it doesn't feel too cramped. A must-visit spot.

The birds are friendly and will come right up on your arm; just bring some crackers or bread. The views of the Basilica are fantastic and the architecture around the square is top-notch.
