Overview
Temporarily closed for renovations, the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOT) in Tokyo, established in 1995, stands proudly next to Kiba Park. This five-story museum boasts a total exhibition space of 7,000m², with three levels dedicated to temporary exhibitions and two showcasing the MOT Collection. Expect a diverse range of exhibits that go beyond conventional boundaries, featuring contemporary fashion, architecture, design, and textiles. The permanent collection focuses on significant artworks from the post-1945 era to the present, including 4,500 pieces that are rotated regularly. Visitors can admire large installations and grand-scale artwork due to the museum's impressive high ceilings. Each year, the Atrium Project presents a unique installation, enriching the visitor experience. Among the renowned artists featured in the collection are Frank Stella, Andy Warhol, Gerhard Richter, and Mark Rothko. The museum also offers a comprehensive library with about 100,000 art-related books, a restaurant, a café, and a shop for art enthusiasts.
