Highly recommend this place! Even though I'm no longer a child, I found the story train absolutely delightful. However, I wouldn't recommend the restaurant as the prices are steep and the food could be much improved.
We visited with our 1.5-year-old daughter on a Friday around 10 am. Arriving in the morning likely helps in avoiding the crowds. The story train was a fantastic experience for both kids and adults, and it was our highlight of the visit. The museum felt more like an indoor playground, particularly suitable for children aged 4-5. There was parking available if you come early. It's not very entertaining for adults as there are numerous kids and parents trying to navigate through the space.
An excellent destination to immerse yourself in the characters from Astrid Lindgren's stories. The train journey was wonderful, with a lovely lunch and an outstanding theatrical performance featuring Pippi, Tommy, and Annika! This combination provided a wonderfully fulfilling experience. Be aware that if no theater shows are happening, you might feel a bit let down.
We visited on a Monday and enjoyed the absence of crowds. The train ride was fantastic and very enjoyable for our 3-year-old child. Definitely worth the visit!
Junibacken was a primary reason we chose to visit Stockholm. My daughter loves Pippi Longstocking and was very excited about the museum. We booked our tickets a few days in advance, and reserving seats for the theater show online was a great convenience. Even though the show is free, it's essential to book a seat as you'll need it to watch the performance. I had read that there are often long lines to enter, but we were fortunate to get in about 10 minutes before our scheduled time. Note that online ticket holders can enter within 30 minutes of the time specified on their ticket.
Overall, the museum is decent. The first floor features a fun play area, a creativity zone with craft activities, and a room filled with soft blocks. The train ride is definitely the highlight - very engaging! The last stop is Villa Villekulla, Pippi's home, featuring a lovely play space and a stage for the theater. Although the show was in Swedish, we still enjoyed it. Afterward, we enjoyed a meal in a circus-themed dining area, which offered traditional dishes like Swedish meatballs and pancakes for kids.
