Welcome to Merlion Park - Singapore's Iconic Landmark

Overview

Merlion Park is a prominent attraction nestled along the scenic Marina Bay in Singapore, renowned for its iconic Merlion statue—a symbol that beautifully blends a lion's head and a fish's body. The statue illustrates Singapore’s rich history as a fishing village, as 'Singapura' translates to 'lion city' in Malay. Originally designed in 1964 and opened to the public in 1972, the park features two remarkable Merlion figures: the majestic mother Merlion standing at 8.6 meters and her playful cub measuring 2 meters. Crafted from cement fondue by artist Lim Nang Seng, the Merlion spits water continuously, symbolizing abundance and prosperity. Relocated in 1997 for enhanced visibility, the Merlion now stands proudly in front of the luxurious Hotel One Fullerton. Merlion Park not only attracts tourists for its striking views but also serves as a cultural landmark, allowing visitors to capture unforgettable memories with the revered statue.

A Singapore must-see landmark. Suggest you visit late evening for beautiful views of the Marina Bay fully lit. After 10pm it is significantly less busy. Also a great spot to watch the water and lights show from the opposite side of Marina Bay.

Been to Singapore twice, but this is my first time visiting the Merlion Park at night. It was peaceful and even more beautiful. Note that they turn off the water at midnight. It has a good view of the Marina Bay Sands.

I think this is the most iconic place in Singapore. It is always crowded with people taking pictures. Why don't you come there if you visit Singapore?
