What a collection! I absolutely love this place. There is so much to see and experience, so make sure to give yourself AT LEAST 4 hours to take in all they have to offer. Their collection is very impressive, and we really enjoyed seeing many famous works of art. We also discovered some new artists that we like! Add this spot to your NYC list!
This review is based on 2 visits, having been to a couple of other art museums:
-look online for discounts (we grabbed a bogo)
-weekday around noon had light traffic, making it easy to see everything
-some pieces remained the same from 2018 to 2025 but new pieces were certainly added, which made it fun
-I’m not fond of the strange depressed videos that claim to be “art” so I typically pass by those rather quickly
-the section on the history of MoMa is incredible. It takes about 30 minutes to fully read the timeline and view art in that room, but it is well worth it. Also, the Starry Night is in that room!
-I wouldn’t say this is an outing I’d take the kids on, so it was a nice date for my husband and me
-I’ve been during the evening and the day, and would recommend daytime for lower traffic
Starry night is a must-see, plus there are a few pieces from Yayoi Kusama that collaborated with Louis Vuitton, which are very special to see.
(Coat check for free is a fantastic feature)
Enjoy!

This is an excellent museum worth visiting in NYC. With so many museums, it is hard to decide which one to check out if you are limited on time. This should definitely be in your top 5. There are lots of interesting exhibits and activities for patrons of all ages.
If you are around on 1st Fridays, there is an evening event from 4pm-8pm.

Went on Friday night for New York residents only. It was awesome. Buy your tickets in advance. You'll spend all day here.

Iconic museum. Impressive exhibits, a cafe with delicious sandwiches, coffee, desserts ($15 per person), and a fantastic store (high price point). I have seen the artwork of Mondrian, Matisse, and more here. 'Starry Night' by Van Gogh is on permanent display. You can also catch art movies. They also hold a family festival on select days with numerous art activities for children.
