The winter landscape of Mount Royal, combined with reasonable pricing, makes this an unbeatable destination for outdoor fun. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to make the most of winter!
My first experience in American-style parks was uniquely different from those in Europe. So spacious! The open landscapes and natural beauty offer the perfect escape for relaxation amid sightseeing. Whether enjoying a leisurely stroll, a picnic, or just soaking in the stunning views of the city, Mount Royal Park is definitely a must-visit in Montreal!
Mount Royal is really stunning in the winter, completely snow-covered! It seems to be a popular destination for families. During my visit, the temperature was around -10° and the park was bustling with families skiing, snowboarding, and ice skating. There's fun for all ages!
I tried snow tubing, but climbing the steps was exhausting. I fell off the tube once, and the kind gentleman supervising the lanes helped me back up swiftly and safely, communicating in multiple languages.
I can't wait to return and explore more of the park—I only visited a couple of landmarks this time.
Absolutely breathtaking! The park is beautiful, exuding a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. It's the ideal spot to read a book, have a picnic, or take a walk and enjoy the natural surroundings. I highly recommend it!
Update: I visited again and it was beyond gorgeous! The park was blanketed in snow, creating a true winter wonderland. The ice skating rink has an incredible view of the frozen lake in front of it. There's also a cozy restaurant on the second floor, perfect for snacks or hot drinks during breaks. On the first floor, lockers are available, along with a shop renting skates. Plus, there's a great tobogganing spot near the rink, and it's free (just bring your own toboggan). I can’t recommend this place enough, no matter the season!
I took my dog for a walk, searching for grassy areas in downtown Montreal, and unexpectedly found ourselves atop Mount Royal. It was incredibly beautiful. It turned out to be an unplanned hike, and thankfully I carried my dog's water bottle along. If you plan to hike, be sure to bring water. We ascended via the hiking trail and descended using the steps. This route seemed easiest, as the climb was tiring, but coming down was simpler. Thanks to Google Maps, I managed to check out all of the notable viewpoints on the mountain. There's another side I haven’t explored—maybe next time!
Overall, it was clean and gorgeous, and Montreal is lucky to have this gem downtown! Locals can jog or hike here daily!
I noticed a coffee shop and restrooms on top, but I believe they didn’t allow dogs, so we couldn't go in. I wish Montreal were more dog friendly!
