A public square that hosts numerous events. On the day of my visit, a free concert was occurring. There was a significant police presence, which made me feel safe. The crowds were well-behaved, and I didn’t notice any issues with drunkenness. The plaza is well-maintained, making it an awesome spot to visit in Mexico.
I've visited El Zócalo several times, and it’s always bustling. On my last trip, I felt somewhat uneasy due to the sheer number of onlookers, which made it difficult to relax and savor the experience fully. I suggest exercising caution—avoid wearing excessive jewelry as the ambiance can feel somewhat tense. The plaza itself is stunning, but appreciating its beauty requires being mindful of your surroundings. It’s still a must-see for its historical value, but staying alert will help enjoy your time there.
This is an expansive plaza. I would have liked to visit during one of the large events I know they host here. However, when I went, it was a vast open space with small exhibitors and street performers. Just be cautious of the tourist-trapping rooftop bar staff who will try to lure you in.
A vibrant and crowded location! You barely get a chance to see much as pickpocketing is a concern, and the traffic can be chaotic. Given its status as a major tourist destination, I wonder why vehicle access isn’t restricted by the Mexican authorities. The Christmas decorations were enchanting.
