The house is lovely. I hadn’t realized how much family money Frida had. The museum features numerous artifacts and photos with good English and Spanish information on nearly all of them. Entry is timed; I expected them to rush us, but once inside, there was no pressure to leave. The courtyard was a perfect spot to relax and enjoy.
It’s a small museum with two main exhibit areas: one featuring Frida’s clothes (as of my visit in Feb 2025) and the other her living quarters, ending with the urn that holds her ashes. The exhibits cover various themes from her art, image, relationships, and life. We booked the last entry slot from 5-6 PM on a Friday, and it wasn’t crowded at all. One hour is sufficient to see everything, though I would recommend an additional 30-40 minutes if you want to read every sign. While the exhibits were well done, I wished for a bit more given the price of admission. However, the walk around the charming town and nearby market made up for it.
One of the most beautiful and easily navigable museums I have ever visited; it felt like stepping into a close friend's house, full of love and treasures that truly honor Frida Kahlo’s life. If I could suggest one thing, purchase your ticket in advance since they are not available on the day or even a week prior. This museum was truly the highlight of my entire trip.
There’s nothing like getting to know an artist by visiting her home. Everything about her home and garden is stunning. Of course, her art is amazing! I loved how the museum captured her unique story from start to finish. I recommend purchasing tickets online to save time. I also appreciated the umbrella service while we waited outside to enter, as it got a bit warm in the sun.
Loved the experience. Storytelling is the main element in the museum, with explanations and narratives about Frida, her family, and Diego displayed on boards hanging on the walls (and I really enjoyed it!). There were plenty of personal items, photos, notebooks, and of course, art. Several rooms displayed personal belongings and furniture. The large garden is perfect for relaxing. What a resilient individual she was! Such a huge personality and talent. Be sure to buy tickets in advance!
