Menara Gardens: A Hidden Oasis in Marrakech

Overview

Menara Gardens, a verdant escape in Marrakech, beckons both locals and tourists seeking respite from urban life. Established in the 12th century during the Almohad dynasty, these gardens were originally designed as a sanctuary for relaxation and agriculture. Today, visitors can stroll through beautifully curated themed gardens surrounding a picturesque man-made lake, fed by a network of canals. The gardens boast a rich variety of flora including palm orchards, olive trees, and an array of fruit trees, lovingly tended by locals who still harvest their bounty. The serene environment is complemented by a 19th-century pavilion showcasing Alawi architectural style, offering breathtaking views of the lake and gardens. Menara Gardens stands as a testament to the harmony of nature and culture, making it a must-visit destination in Marrakech.

A nice and beautiful area, with lots of palms and a very big pond. The view is better from above and in professional photos. It’s generally impressive because of its history and significance, but I wouldn’t place it at the top of the must-visit list if you are only staying for a short time.

There's not much to see; we walked there from the airport to kill some time. To see the little building you have to pay, but we didn't think it was worth it. If you're near the place and want to check it out, it's nice, but I don't think it's worth a special visit. Just a regular park.

A pleasant park with olive trees located a bit outside the city. The view of the Atlas Mountains in the background is stunning! Easily accessible by foot, car, or bus, and entry is free.

I didn't find it spectacular. It resembles a large water basin where you circle around, and that’s it. Surrounding it are large fields of olive trees. However, there's not much else to do. It’s more like a 30-minute stop to take a few pictures and then move on.

A tranquil place to see an olive farm, and entry is free of charge. It's within walking distance from Ménara Mall in Marrakech.
