Such a fantastic place for what I call 'family fun day.' We visited during the holidays, and they had amazing animal light displays that we’re looking forward to seeing again next holiday season because I must see the lights at night. Surprisingly, all the animals were very active, and my kids had a great time.

For a small zoo, it was enjoyable. There was a lot of renovation happening, so many animals were not in their habitats. We visited around Christmas during the day. Next year, I would definitely return at night to see their lights! They looked wonderful during the day, so I can imagine they would be spectacular at night!

Visiting in winter is not advisable as many animals tend to stay in their nests, making them hard to find. The zoo is not large, yet you still end up walking quite a bit to see a few animals in each section. It can be tiring, and clean resting spots are scarce outside of cafeterias. However, you can find animals from various regions, including Australia and Asia. The animals here appear happier than in other zoos and have more freedom. It's a great place to visit, although if you're just seeking more animals, the ticket price feels a bit high.

This is a small zoo but very memorable. I was born and raised in LA, and this was my childhood zoo. On January 31, which is my daughter’s first birthday, she saw many animals including flamingos, snakes, monkeys, giraffes, and alligators. This zoo is small but can be enjoyable for a quick visit with kids. I recommend this zoo if you're in LA, plus the parking is free!

LA Zoo boasts a variety of animals. It's a great venue for families and kids. Parking is free, and booking tickets online can save you 10-15 minutes. You can also reserve the shuttle tram inside for an extra $9 if you prefer not to walk through the entire park. There are plenty of restaurants and restrooms available, and everything is well-kept and clean. It takes about 3-4 hours to see all the continents represented in the zoo.
