Welcome to Tower Bridge: London’s Iconic Landmark

Overview

Tower Bridge is a celebrated icon of London, elegantly spanning the River Thames near the historic Tower of London. Constructed between 1886 and 1894, this architectural wonder was designed by Horace Jones and John Wolfe Barry to facilitate pedestrian and vehicle traffic without obstructing river navigation. With its remarkable bascule design, the bridge can be raised approximately 900 times a year to allow tall vessels to pass beneath. Visitors can engage in an immersive experience at the Tower Bridge Exhibition, where they will uncover the bridge's fascinating history through animated videos and captivating exhibits, including the 'Great Bridges of the World' display and a tour of the Victorian Engine Rooms. Accessible by the Tube to Tower Hill station, Tower Bridge remains a must-visit destination for anyone exploring London.

I arrived in mid-August 2024. I walked from the Monument station along the river, enjoying the view of London's iconic landmarks from a distance. It was beautiful!!! I used a city pass and made an online reservation for the 9 AM entry. I only had to wait in line for 15 minutes before heading up. I was really impressed by the creativity of the people from England who built such a beautiful structure. The floor in the middle of the tower has glass, which gives a thrilling view of the traffic moving below. You should also try taking a double-decker bus across the bridge. Seeing London's landmarks from a different perspective is also a very enjoyable experience.

Tower Bridge is one of London’s most iconic landmarks, known for its stunning architecture and breathtaking views. The bridge’s twin towers and blue suspension cables make it a beautiful sight, especially when lit up at night. Visitors can walk across for free or visit the Tower Bridge Exhibition, which offers access to the glass-floored walkways and engine rooms. Watching the bridge lift for passing boats is a unique experience. With its historical charm and panoramic views of the Thames, Tower Bridge is a must-visit for anyone exploring London.

Awesome, so much of history and most of all the details you will find in this amazing Bridge. Please visit the bridge, including the interior. It will give you a completely different vibe and experience. Besides this, explore the other attractions around the bridge for a comprehensive view. And be aware, the Tower Bridge has been featured in several movies. So be your own movie star and enjoy this moment in the UK.

Spectacular architecture. The views from the walkway are incredible, and the history behind the bridge is fascinating. It's definitely worth seeing up close, though be prepared for some crowds during peak hours. On one side is a great walk along the river Thames, just under the Shard. On the other side is Tower of London and the downtown city.
