Overview

Shakespeare's Globe Theatre in London is a remarkable reproduction of the historic theater where William Shakespeare crafted his legendary works. Originally constructed in the early 1600s, the original Globe Theatre faced destruction in 1613 and was subsequently rebuilt before closing its doors due to the Puritan influence on the arts. Experience the life and times of one of the greatest playwrights, as well as an array of guided tours offered in multiple languages, including German, French, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, and Hungarian. Whether you're catching a live performance from Shakespeare's extensive repertoire or exploring the fascinating exhibition, the Globe Theatre in London offers an unforgettable cultural experience, open daily apart from Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Check for specific tour timings, as they may vary with ongoing productions.

If you love theatre or are a fan of Shakespeare, this is a must-visit! I booked a tour upon my arrival and had a 15-minute wait before it began, which allowed me to explore the fantastic exhibition. Our tour guide was not only informative but also very engaging. While it's important to note that this isn't the original Globe, experiencing a theater built in a similar style was incredible and gave insights into Shakespeare’s era. The gift shop is truly tempting and the staff were exceptionally nice! Highly recommended!

I took the guided tour of the reconstructed Globe Theatre and it was fantastic! My guide was very knowledgeable about both the theatre's history and British history, effortlessly weaving them together. The interactive style really engaged our diverse group, making it both fun and informative. The exhibition was well-organized, although I recommend doing the tour first to make the most of your visit. I can’t wait to catch a show on my next trip to London, but I’ll wait for warmer weather for a more comfortable experience.

On our recent trip to London, we spontaneously decided to see a performance at Shakespeare’s Globe and snagged standing tickets—what an incredible atmosphere! As ‘Groundlings’ in the open-air yard, we were mere feet from the stage, immersed in the action, just as audiences were in Shakespeare’s time. The energy of the performances and the audience interaction created an unforgettable experience. Shakespeare’s Globe is a faithful reconstruction of the original theatre from 1599, rebuilt in the 1990s by American actor Sam Wanamaker. The design reflects the Elizabethan era, complete with a thatched roof and open-air setting, so come prepared for the British weather! Standing tickets at just £5 provide an authentic and immersive experience that every theatre lover should try. A magical night awaits you here!

I absolutely loved the history tour at the Globe! Every minute was captivating, packed with fascinating details about the theatre and its significance. I even attended a play in the adjacent theatre which operates during winter. I'm eagerly awaiting the spring and summer seasons to return for an open-air performance, which promises to be delightful. The tour lasted an hour and was thoroughly enjoyable!

Incredible experience! I loved learning about this historic theatre! We did a guided tour and our guide was fantastic! This is actually the third theatre built to celebrate Shakespeare and English theatre. Don't forget to check out the placard a few blocks away marking the site of the original Globe!
