The Blue Mosque provided a lovely experience. Ladies should bring a scarf for modesty, but one can be borrowed at the entrance. There's a charming open area adjacent to the mosque where you can enjoy simit (bagels) and corn in a pleasant setting. I had a great time here.
Situated between Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque, there are many attractions near Sultanahmet Square. If you're healthy and not in a hurry, I recommend walking to explore: - Grand Bazaar - Mahmutpasha Bazaar - Egyptian Bazaar - Topkapi Palace Museum - Eminonu (where you can take a ferry to the Bosphorus Strait) - Galata Tower. I enjoyed strolling around to discover Istanbul.

A large square nestled between Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque, this area is immensely popular with both tourists and locals. It’s a nice place to just hang out and observe life happening around you.
This is a fantastic place. You can spend at least 2 to 3 hours exploring the area, which includes the Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, and Topkapi Palace Museum. Entry to the museum is about 1700 lira per person and provides access to all museums. There are also lots of cats around. Don’t miss trying the corn 🌽 and Ekmek (bread) with Nutella.
Sultanahmet Square, historically the heart of Constantinople, is now a magnificent testament to centuries of history. Originally a chariot racing track in the Byzantine period, it has transformed into a vibrant hub that encapsulates the spirit of both ancient and modern Istanbul. With remarkable architecture surrounding it like Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, and Basilica Cistern, the square feels like a living museum full of historical narratives. During my visit, I was impressed by how beautifully the area is kept, with manicured gardens and serene fountains contributing to a peaceful atmosphere, even with the busy tourist crowd. The historical value of the square is evident, as each corner reveals a piece of the city's rich heritage. Whether you're admiring the obelisks that once marked the Hippodrome or enjoying the vibrant energy of the square, Sultanahmet is essential for anyone wanting to experience the true essence of Istanbul.
