In February 2025, the church was under renovation, with scaffolding on the front facade and part of the nave. The architect and contractor ensured public access, providing great information boards about the repairs and even offering guided tours. The church's architecture is impressive both inside and out, and the process of its restoration is truly engaging. The work is expected to continue for several months.

From the top of the hill, the views of Florence are absolutely stunning and a must-see! It's a bit of a hike to get there, but you could also take a taxi or rent an electric bike to save some time. There's a quaint shop next to the basilica offering herbal wellness products, wine, honey, cookies, and souvenirs made by the monks. On Sunday evenings, you can enjoy traditional chanting during mass. The setting is very lovely and serene, regardless of the weather.

The Basilica di San Miniato al Monte provides one of the most breathtaking vistas in Florence, especially ideal for sunset enthusiasts. The ascent to the church is quite demanding, requiring a good level of fitness, which may not be suitable for children or those with mobility issues unless using a vehicle. Although the steep climb can be tiring, the panoramic views of the city at the top are absolutely rewarding. The scenery during the golden hour is particularly enchanting, and I look forward to returning for another sunset. However, next time, I'll drive up for more convenience and to fully enjoy the experience without exhausting myself from the walk.

A beautiful basilica where I enjoyed the enchanting play of sunbeams illuminating its interior. Entrance is free, and it offers spectacular views of Florence without the usual crowds. Highly recommended!

This seems to be the highest spot on the hill. The church is beautiful, and it offers a great view of Florence. Be sure to explore the interior, the small graveyard, the backyard, and the garden as well.
