Visiting as part of a combined tour of the Duomo and museum was quite captivating. The history and construction story behind it is fascinating, although our visit coincided with the central core undergoing repairs. If you appreciate the blend of history and scaffolding, this won't detract from your experience.

The Baptistry is quite unadorned on the outside compared to other structures around the Cathedral. Inside, it remains simple, but the real highlight is the stunning mosaic ceiling. Unfortunately, during our visit, only a small section was visible, while the main area was covered for restoration. It's commendable that they maintain these historical treasures, though our timing was unfortunate as we only had three days in Florence. The marble and stone patterned floors are simply exquisite. Nevertheless, it’s definitely worth a visit.

During our family’s leisurely walking tour around Florence, we began to follow our instincts and the crowds. We eventually arrived at the main square, where the 8-sided Baptistry of Saint John struck us immediately. Honestly, it seemed somewhat artificial at first, and I pondered whether it was covered to hide restoration work. However, the immaculate white marble decoration was truly impressive. We chose not to enter the building but admired it from the outside.

Unfortunately, I didn't manage my time well enough in Florence to enter the Battistero di San Giovanni, but the doors are stunning! Ghiberti's famous "Gates of Paradise" are mesmerizing. Although they are replicas and the originals are not on public display for security reasons, seeing these incredible copies in person was still a thrill after visiting the nearby Duomo.
