I had a fantastic time at Malahide Castle & Gardens when I visited for my birthday recently. Getting there was simple with a short train ride from Dublin followed by a lovely walk to the castle (just follow Google Maps and you won’t miss it). The gardens were absolutely breathtaking, with plenty to discover. There were also several shops and a cafe, making it easy to grab a snack or find a souvenir. The castle is accessible only through guided tours, and our guide was incredibly knowledgeable. The stories about the castle's history and former inhabitants were captivating; what left me in awe were the tales of individuals sensing the presence of a little girl—those stories gave me chills in the best way! After the tour, we explored the fairy trail, which turned out to be a delightful surprise with many squirrels all around—it was such an adorable experience! However, the butterfly house was slightly disappointing. It was rather small, and witnessing butterflies being captured by visitors or already injured took away from the joy of the visit :( Overall, it was a memorable and unique experience that I would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area, especially for its rich history and enchanting gardens!

A fabulous place to visit, whether it's simply walking around the extensive grounds, touring the castle itself, or visiting Avoca to shop. It's a location I've frequented and is worth visiting all year round. I just attended the Winter Wonder lights, and it was magical for both young and old, and I’m looking forward to experiencing it again.

A nice experience but it didn’t leave me speechless. It’s well-organized, and it feels very safe inside. I visited last Sunday, and it wasn’t crowded. Online, the ticket costs 2€ more due to tax, but buying it on-site offers the normal price and you can pay with credit or cash. Personally, I find the ticket price steep for the experience provided. It should be 15€ maximum or, at the very least, add something extraordinary to warrant a 25€ ticket. Overall, the experience did not impress me.
