Visit the Little Museum of Dublin – A Glimpse into Dublin's Rich Heritage

Overview

Nestled in the heart of Dublin, the Little Museum of Dublin offers a captivating look into the history of Dublin from 1900 to 2000. Housed in a stunning Georgian building, this unique museum features an extensive collection of approximately 5,000 original items, including photographs, letters, advertisements, and personal memorabilia. These artifacts not only represent significant events in Dublin's past, such as the Easter Rising in 1916 and the visit of President JFK, but they also narrate the everyday life of Dubliners throughout centuries. Often referred to as a 'people's museum,' it invites visitors to immerse themselves in the local culture and history through guided walks and engaging educational programs for children. Complete your visit with a stop at the adjoining Hatch & Sons Irish Kitchen cafe for a taste of Ireland.

The museum is small, just one room, but it effectively captures the history of Dublin. You can learn about key events in Irish history and gain a better understanding of the city. Our guide, Pauline, made this an unforgettable experience. I highly recommend starting your visit to Dublin here.

What a fantastic opportunity to learn about Dublin's history with Sean! This was my first visit to Ireland, and after some online research, I discovered this museum was a must-do. We managed to join the morning tour just in time and had a lovely coffee across the street using the 10% discount from the museum tickets. Sean was an incredible guide, full of knowledge. The tour is unique as you're standing in one room the entire time, but it was so captivating that it made the whole experience enjoyable. I highly recommend this for anyone visiting Dublin, whether it's your first time or your tenth! Truly fascinating information!

Despite being a small museum, the wealth of knowledge and historical significance is enormous! It's a fantastic place to learn about Dublin's past, led by the amazing guide Emmanuel (also known as Francis), who has the best Irish humor! I definitely recommend it!

This charming little museum has a lot of character. I encountered Mrs. Brown, who was always serious. On that day, Sean was the presenter, and he engaged everyone with his sense of humor. You can also get a free entry to the Little Museum with your DoDublin hop-on and hop-off ticket. They offer unique gifts for family and friends as well. Highly recommended!
