Overview

The Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA) is a premier destination for art enthusiasts located in the heart of Dublin. Housed in a beautifully restored 17th-century building known as the Royal Hospital Kilmainham, the museum boasts an extensive collection of 3,500 works of modern and contemporary art. Established as the country's first national museum dedicated to this genre, IMMA features pieces from both Irish and international artists, continually updating its offerings with significant new works each year. Among the highlights are 1,200 Old Master prints from distinguished artists such as Rembrandt, Goya, and Dürer. Visitors can also enjoy the museum's picturesque grounds, featuring formal gardens, lawns, a meadow, and a historic burial site, with designated routes to guide you past the remarkable outdoor art installations.

It was a beautiful sunny day for a visit to this stunning museum. The adjacent gardens must be even livelier during the summer. The Take A Breath exhibition was very valuable and relevant. The coffee at the cafe was fantastic!

An incredible FREE museum for modern art enthusiasts. Truly unique and thought-provoking art pieces along with insightful commentary on today’s society. It features a main building and an annex just around the corner. Free Wi-Fi is available as well.

A pleasant place to visit. While I cannot say much about modern art as it isn't my forte, I did enjoy one display here. I appreciated the gardens as well. Entry is free and the reception staff are very friendly. Well done!

Attended the parent and baby guided tour at IMMA, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. It takes place every Thursday and guides you through various parts of the museum/exhibitions. We made a reservation in advance, but they also accommodate walk-ins. The whole area is stroller-friendly and easy to navigate. I would highly recommend this experience and a visit to their cafe afterward.
