The Cape Wheel: A Majestic Observation Experience in Cape Town

Overview

The Cape Wheel stands as a remarkable attraction in Cape Town, akin to other iconic observation wheels like the London Eye. This impressive structure features 30 enclosed, air-conditioned capsules, each with expansive windows ensuring an unobstructed view. Riders ascend 40 meters above ground level, enjoying panoramic vistas of the city and beyond while completing four rotations in approximately 12-15 minutes. Each capsule accommodates up to 6 adults or 8 individuals if children are present. Vetted by the internationally recognized Wheel of Excellence, the Cape Wheel is crafted with precise design and adheres to rigorous safety standards. Additionally, each ticket purchased contributes to the Lauraus Sport for Good Foundation, which aids socio-economic projects aimed at supporting underprivileged children and youth.

We truly enjoyed the experience, from buying tickets to the four rotations and the amazing view. It’s a must-visit for us. We had a fantastic time in the gondola.

The wheel is located by the seafront at the waterfront, offering a fantastic 10-minute view experience. You can see the area beautifully from above. The staff are friendly and very helpful. It's a lovely experience and I highly recommend it.

The ferris wheel provides stunning views of the ocean on one side and the mountains on the other. There's usually a small queue, but it wasn’t too long. You get four revolutions before needing to exit, and sunset is a popular time to visit.

We bought a two-day hop-on hop-off city tour bus ticket that included visiting the wheel. It offers a fantastic view of the city, including Table Mountain, the sea, and the V & A waterfront. Everything is very clean and organized, and you go about four rounds before disembarking. You can take a photo before boarding, which you can purchase afterward if you wish. I rated it 8/10 because there are other places with incredible views of the city, and there can be a wait due to the holiday season.

I absolutely adore the new location; it’s perfect! Not that the old one was boring, but this new one is just incredible, especially for watching the sunset. The view is breathtaking, and the service is quick. Additionally, it’s free on your birthday; just bring your South African ID. My sister from Pretoria had an unforgettable birthday experience, and the best part is, it was free. They won’t waste your time! I can’t wait to return next year.
