Discover the Cairo Tower: Cairo's Iconic Landmark

Overview

The Cairo Tower, standing at an impressive 187 meters, offers visitors unrivaled panoramic views of the city known as the 'Venice of the North'. Nestled on Gezira Island, this architectural masterpiece boasts a unique design reminiscent of a blooming lotus flower, crafted from exquisite granite and intricate latticework. Originally built between 1954 and 1961 under the vision of architect Naoum Shebib, the tower symbolizes Egypt's resilience and ambition. Guests can enjoy breathtaking vistas from the observation deck equipped with telescopes, perfect for spotting the city's remarkable landmarks. Additionally, a rotating restaurant provides a unique dining experience, completing a full rotation in just 70 minutes, making it a favored spot for dignitaries and tourists alike. To truly appreciate the beauty of Cairo from above, visiting the Cairo Tower at night is highly recommended.

A wonderful place to visit for a short while to take photos. It’s advisable to get express tickets, especially on weekends, which also allow you access to the cafe. Without express tickets, you may need at least 2 hours to ascend.

This is a really cool attraction with stunning views from the restaurant. However, if you’re visiting alone, you won’t be allowed to access the rotating platform or the outdoor section at the top, which is not clearly mentioned when purchasing tickets. It's disappointing, as the view is incredible, but solo visitors only have access to the indoor cafe. The staff were friendly, but prices are slightly above what you might pay at local bars. Still, it’s worth a visit.

The Sky Café on the 62nd floor of Cairo Tower offers a unique dining experience with amazing panoramic views of the city. The ambiance is tranquil and perfect for both tourists and locals looking for a memorable time. While the service is decent, there’s definitely room for improvement. The express ticket, available for 600 EGP, allows quick access to the tower and includes a 250 EGP voucher for use at Sky Café. This voucher covers a range of menu items, making it a cost-effective option. Note that it cannot be used at the revolving restaurant, which has limited seating and higher prices. I tried the Chicken Caesar Salad and a cappuccino during my visit. The salad was okay, but not remarkable, while the cappuccino was quite good. The express ticket allows you to enjoy the café for a longer time, while access to the viewing areas is limited to about five minutes due to high demand. I recommend visiting during quieter times for a more relaxed experience.

Solo travelers, beware! You’re only allowed five minutes at the top of the tower with a guard watching you closely. If you come with family, there are no time restrictions. This means if you buy a 300 LE ticket, it might feel wasted if you’re alone. The restaurant is the best place to enjoy the views without security interference, but be ready to pay substantially more for everything.

Had such a wonderful family outing at Cairo Tower. Experiencing Egypt's beauty from above provides a different perspective. We enjoyed the restaurant while we waited for our turn, which had a fantastic traditional atmosphere. Our server, Ali, was exceptional!
