The brewery tour was fascinating, especially the history of De Halve Maan. We gained a solid understanding of the brewing process, both current and historical. The views from the top were spectacular, and the video presentation of Zot was adorable. We enjoyed lunch in the restaurant, where the staff was friendly and the food was great. It was such a nice, relaxed experience that we returned twice more!
We arrived in the morning and weren't ready for a beer or lunch, so I can't comment on those. However, this place is intriguing and worth the short walk to see the beer wall and learn about the brewery's history. The long brewing tradition and the impressive collection of beers left a mark. We plan to stay longer on our next visit to Bruges to fully enjoy everything this brewery has to offer.
I first visited De Halve Maan in 2009, and after 16 years, I returned for their amazing beer—and it was just as fantastic as I remembered! The atmosphere is stunning, the staff is friendly, and the brewery tour is a necessity for beer enthusiasts. A true Bruges classic that never lets you down!
This review is specifically for the bistro. First, it’s quite challenging to find out when the kitchen is open. Secondly, there's no organization for people waiting to order, which leaves guests to battle for available tables. The beers are good, the Flemish beef stew is nice, but the daily menu is mediocre. The main dish of salmon was tasty, but the pâté and dessert were disappointing compared to our past experiences five years ago.
This famous brewery offers interesting site tours and has a pub/restaurant and shop on-site. The tour lasts about an hour, guided by knowledgeable staff through the intricate and steep stairways. There’s so much to see, and the rooftop view is excellent. You also get a complimentary beer in the adjacent pub area afterwards. A great experience!
