This beautiful basilica is well-preserved in its authenticity. It can get extremely crowded in December. Overall, it’s a must-see if you're visiting Bruges.
This site is free to enter unless you wish to visit the small museum for a small fee. The ambiance is incredibly warm, and the holy blood is watched over by a devoted individual, creating a profound religious experience. Even though I'm not particularly religious, being in such a sacred space is quite moving. There are winding stairs to access the main area, and it appears there is no elevator. I definitely recommend visiting, especially since it's free and located in a prime area.
Having visited many churches throughout Belgium, I can confidently say this one is exceptional and truly sets itself apart. The aura here is deeply spiritual, cultural, and simply beautiful. Stepping inside feels like entering a historic site of great importance. A standout feature is the chance to see the Blood of Jesus, a venerated relic displayed for only a few hours each week. Fortunately, I witnessed it during my visit, and it was an extremely moving and unforgettable moment. I highly suggest planning your trip to this remarkable church so you can experience the relic on display. It’s an essential place that offers both spiritual and cultural enrichment, leaving a lasting impact on every visitor.
This beautiful 12th-century basilica is a key part of Bruges's history. Its unique architecture houses a relic believed to contain drops of Jesus' blood. The stained glass windows are absolutely stunning. The relic is available for viewing from 12 PM until 4 PM. I visited during the off-season, so it was not busy, but do note it can become very crowded during Holy Week and the Christmas Markets.

This basilica is distinct from what we typically see across Europe. Its exterior in black is unique, and while photography is allowed in certain areas, please remember that it is prohibited in the central part of the basilica.
