Discover Beihai Park: Beijing's Serene Royal Garden

Overview

Beihai Park, located in Beijing, is a magnificent royal garden that boasts a rich history and stunning natural beauty. As one of the oldest gardens in the world, it spans over 171 acres and offers a unique glimpse into the past. Established in 938 during the Liao Dynasty, the park has undergone various restorations throughout the centuries. Today, it welcomes visitors to explore its expansive lake, intricate pavilions, and lush gardens. A focal point of the park is the enchanting Jade Flower Island, home to the striking White Dagoba, which was built to commemorate the visit of the 5th Dalai Lama in 1651. Beihai Park is not only a visual feast but also a hub of activity; early morning visitors can witness local residents practicing martial arts, while the lake offers paddle boating in the warmer months and transforms into a skating rink during winter. Whether you're seeking tranquility or a journey through history, Beihai Park is a must-visit destination in Beijing.

Beihai Park is a serene escape from the crowds of the Forbidden City. It's quite peaceful, allowing you to enjoy a tea or snack in the shade. There's a small entrance fee, but it's definitely worth it for a breather away from the main attractions in Beijing.

Absolutely stunning park! It's enormous and offers both exploration and relaxation. The entry fee is just 10 RMB during peak season, although it can get crowded. It's wonderful to see so many locals enjoying this beautiful space.

Nice park to discover! I unexpectedly found it on a rainy day and really enjoyed walking around. There’s a lovely path by a pond outside the park worth exploring too.

We paid 20 RMB each for entry into this vast park. We mostly completed the main circle but skipped the outer part since we were quite fatigued from our earlier visit to the Forbidden City. However, the stroll around the park was enjoyable.
